STYLE

American Vintage — The Outlet Secret

Why I like it: American Vintage is a lovely French brand that does its own thing, and does it well. Clothes for real, everyday life, made in beautiful fabrics, a wonderful array of colours and designed to last.

It doesn't chase high-street trends (a good thing!), but its prices are certainly on the higher side. Don't get me wrong, I think the quality is worth it. Some of the pieces in my wardrobe have lasted over a decade. But price can be a sticking point, particularly in the current climate.

Something I discovered during my own recovery, when I was looking for softer, kinder fabrics, was that American Vintage has an online outlet store. All. Year. Round.

And because a T-shirt is a T-shirt is a T-shirt, who's going to know which season yours came from?

As with all good bargains, there's a little hunting involved. Your size won't always be available, and you might find yourself exploring colours you wouldn't normally choose. But that's exactly how I've discovered some of my favourite pieces.

Available at: American Vintage Online Outlet.

Nourishment

Feeding by Georgina Hayden

Why I like it: Yes, Georgie is my sister, so you might think I'm a little biased. But she's also an internationally acclaimed food writer, and I can honestly say (from personal experience) her recipes are every bit as delicious as they are doable.

Georgie has a wonderful knack for creating food that's full of flavour, without making cooking feel complicated. The kind of recipes you'll make once and find yourself returning to again and again.

She's just launched her new Substack, Feeding, bringing more of her wonderful writing and recipes straight to our inboxes. And I couldn't be happier to recommend it.

Available at: Substack — Feeding by Georgina Hayden.

HOME LIFE

Autumn Flowers

Why I like it: Fresh flowers all year round have become something of a little luxury, but as someone who loves living seasonally, I always look forward to buying a beautiful bunch to mark the changing seasons.

Having enjoyed an extended summer in Cyprus, I was more than ready to welcome autumn when I returned home. One of my first stops was my local flower stall to see what delights awaited, and I came home with this gorgeous bunch of dahlias.

With their wonderful autumnal colours and sculptural blooms, they're the perfect way to bring a little autumn beauty indoors.

Available at: Your local florist, flower stall or super market.

Wellbeing

Ilu Vitality Seamless Leggings

Why I like it: You may remember I was part of ILU's hospital-friendly sweatshirt campaign a couple of years ago. Well, they also have a lovely activewear range too.

Their pieces are beautifully made, wash well and are cut to flatter a variety of body shapes.

I spent some time catching up with the team at the OM Yoga Show this weekend, and founder Mary was wearing these leggings. They looked fabulous!

They've gone straight onto my shopping list to bring a little something new to my workout wear.

Available at: Ilu Fitwear, online

Beauty

Vichy Minéral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Daily Hydrating Booster Serum

Why I like it: My friend Rebeca introduced me to this several years ago whilst we were on a weekend in Amsterdam. Her dermatologist had recommended it to her, and she passed on the tip.

I find myself reaching for it year after year, around this time, when the weather changes and my skin needs extra hydration. Heavy creams tend to congest my skin, so I prefer layering my hydration instead. This makes a great base before applying my moisturiser.

Available at: Boots, Lookfantastic and good pharmacies.

Things To Do

The 90s: Art and Fashion — Tate Britain

Why I like it: A decade that gave us some of fashion's most iconic moments, from the rise of the supermodel to the influence of Britpop and a whole new generation of British creative talent.

Tate's upcoming exhibition explores the relationship between art and fashion during this wonderfully creative decade, and how the two worlds influenced one another.

A lovely excuse for a little nostalgia, a dose of creative inspiration and an afternoon immersed in the decade that shaped so much of the style we still love today.

Available at: Tate Britain — exhibition details and tickets via Tate.
